Course overview
Cultural responsiveness is not created by a holiday craft, heritage-month display, or occasional themed activity. This two-hour self-paced course helps early childhood and school-age professionals identify the limitations of holiday-only cultural inclusion and explore how culture is expressed through everyday family life, language, values, identities, routines, communication, and community experiences. Learners will evaluate books, materials, images, music, activities, and classroom practices for authenticity, representation, stereotyping, tokenism, cultural appropriation, and meaningful inclusion. They will leave with practical tools for strengthening belonging throughout the year through curriculum, environments, interactions, family partnership, and program planning.
Certificate Included for STARS Annual Training
Upon successful completion of the course, including the required instructor feedback component, learners will receive a certificate to upload to MERIT. Course rosters are submitted to MERIT by the instructor at the end of each month. Please allow 2–3 business days for certificate processing. Need your certificate sooner? Email us, and we’ll do our best to expedite it.
